Below, the real treats….

The sky that produced such a site.

And the same sky a few minutes earlier, in as much magnificence as I could capture.

And a few minutes later, the same sky, as celestial mechanics begin to remove the lighting, and meteorological effects start carting away the the canvas. The ever changing show moved westward, as it always must.

These pictures were taken within a five minute span of time, sometime last year. My camera says it was from 7:16 to 7:21 PM, February 1, 2013, but that would put this over an hour after sunset, which seems unlikely.

If I had my desktop computer up and running, I could have cropped the second and fourth picture, but I probably would have left them as is. The mundane and shabby places of the world are capable of getting just as spectacular a view of sunset as the most beautiful and expensive places. These were all taken in my front yard, and I’m thinking that someone with better equipment and more skill would have had even more beautiful pictures.

But nothing beat watching it live and in person.

My father is called “the Director of Sunsets” locally for presiding over such spectacles.

(Your camera was stuck on daylight saving time.)

I watched one that beautiful live and in person, just tonight. The iPhone camera turns red to yellow so I left the phone at home.

The amazing part is just how many beautiful sunsets we get down here, even in the interior of the state. (Those pics are from the west side of Orlando.) I’ll see a few dozen like that in a year, and I have no idea how many I miss.
