Neil Armstrong – RIP

CNN – Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon, dies

Only eight of the 12 men who have walked on the Moon remain alive now.

ADDED: Here’s footage of Armstrong escaping death while practicing for the lunar landing in the Bell Aerosystems Lunar Landing Research Vehicle:

  1. I confess that Armstrong is my ideal of a hero: someone who, when his moment comes, does his job well. And then goes back to being a normal person.

Other astronauts went on to be Senators, etc. Armstrong went on to be a professor of engineering — teaching others.

    RIP

  2. It gives me “end of an era” feelings, especially since we do not know when someone will set foot on the Moon again. “Set foot” — that expression feels so literal when you think of Armstrong putting his bootprint in the cindery surface of the moon.
