The Spirit of Christmas Present! Sweet Cat. Great wrap job. I love the way animals who’ve experienced human respect and care, will sometimes allow for and enter into the honor of fussing and silliness. The Wrap-Kats have been helping here all week with box inspection, tissue selection, scrap management and ribbon tying. Conduits in fur. Bits of light in darkness.
I have been through Christmas when it took hours to open the gifts and the wrapping paper filled three large garbage bags; when I was putting together toys at 2:00 a.m.; when I was holding a baby at the back of the church and I couldn’t hear the service; when we walked around the neighborhood singing carols and every house had outdoor lights and they sparkled off the snow so it was almost as bright as day; when I had just buried my mother and the gifts for her were still sitting under the tree.
To me, it isn’t about gifts, or religious services, or performances of the Nutcracker or the Messiah, or even family gatherings, although they have all been part of it. To me, Christmas is a celebration of hope entering a world that is all too worldly and often harsh.
To all of you, and especially Amba, I wish hope enters your hearts today.
