    “Fundamentalist” is a mindset, regardless of whether the individual is a fundamentalist Christian, a fundamentalist Muslim, or a fundamentalist atheist.

    I noted long ago that when those who are on the far left (or right) politically change their views, they frequently do not become moderates. Rather, they go to the other extreme. It’s like they need to have an extreme position of absolute moral certainty — regardless of what it is. Religious fundamentalists are, it appears, much the same.
