Could It Be?

A GOP youth movement that’s genuine and not a joke?

Republican leaders frantically seeking to rebrand their party might want to swing their attention from Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney to a feisty young Republican who has never been elected to anything: Meghan McCain.

The 24-year-old daughter of U.S. Sen. John McCain, the 2008 GOP presidential candidate, is a regular political blogger and most certainly not her mother Cindy’s serene, St. John-suit-wearing stereotype of a Republican woman.

In brash blog posts on the Daily Beast — “The GOP doesn’t understand sex” — and outpouring of posts on Twitter, she has described herself as a pro-sex, “pro-life, pro-gay-marriage Republican,” one who experts say may be at the forefront of a new GOP breed: the “Meghan McCain Republican.”

That GOP faction is younger and interested in fiscal responsibility and less government involvement in people’s lives, while supporting environmentalism and civic engagement. They’re part of the millennial generation, the largest and most diverse generation in American history, whose voters — born starting in the early 1980s — cast ballots for Barack Obama by a more than 2-to-1 ratio.

I guess my first question is, how do you tell them from centrist/moderate Democrats? But perhaps the country’s swung so far (back) to the left that that is the only viable right-side position.

I’m not supporting ANYBODY from a political family for the next decade or so. Let’s have some non-dynasty folks on the GOP side for awhile. There’s too much built-in pre-drawn battle-lines when the children and brother step into the fray. We need new blood, period. If that’s unfair to truly talented scions with a history of devoted family service to the country, that’s an unfortunate by-product, but I’m sticking to my guns.

And why should a centerist/moderate Democrat be massively different from a centerist/moderate Republican? I mean, if centerist or moderate mean anything, then tehy ought to mean much the same thing regardless of party. The fact that the extremes have largely segregated themselves by party does not mean that the center is obligated to do so as well.

Especially in times like these, I’m interested in some serious and substantial group of people cooking up real alternatives. A centrist political structure is going to get caught up in wrangling over minutia, like the Mennonite sects that damn one another to Hell over whether they ought to drive the boxy Plymouth with chrome bumpers or one with black-painted bumpers.

I’m NOT interested in the irreconcilables on either fringe, or the wackos in deep space, who with every fresh crisis or challenge haul out the cherished social snake oil they have been trying to push on America for their entire adult lives, as just the thing that is needed right now.

I guess i’d like to know what an ~irreconcilable~ is, exactly. I find nothing proLife about Obama– i’m proLife and i find not much to debate– especially when so many agree already that it should be ~safe and rare~ and probably in the 1st trimester(i disagree) yet, believe someone who cannot even take a guess as to when life begins because ~it’s above his paygrade~ and will vote to leave liveborn babies of abortion to die of– neglect.

If that is what you mean by snakeoil– i’ve got many bottles to give away freely. School choice is another variety of said oil– and maybe i’ll stand for greater defense(not cutting defense), as well.

I don’t see any middle ground anymore these days. I see pissed off people and ridiculing of teabaggin’ Rednecks.

Maybe i see what i want to see– show me another way to look at this and i’ll try very hard to read the inkblots correctly.

Obama and his Administration are no Moderates. Do you believe they peddle snake oil, as well?

How about Nancy Pelosi– the most powerful woman in America- 3rd form tilling the helm? Center running broad that she is. What was it that Wanda Sykes believes is treason, again?

    Meghan is an adolesent.
