Meanwhile, the Crimean seethes and Eric Holder has the vapors.

And all Scooby can think is, “Whoa, man. It all seems so real to me now!”

(Scooby speaks fine American when stoned.)

I clicked onto this after my comment, as i’ve been contemplating getting older- both my ownself, and all those around me. I love this poem. Esp for J.

When i was little, i used to be so afraid of dying, i used to cover all my face but my nose when i would go to bed at night. (Sorry- i wasn’t sure how to punctuate that!) Anyway, i was a real pain in the arse for my Mom- calling her back into my room multiple times after she’d tucked me in- and i took forever to fall asleep.

I think the ones we love go before us to help us follow w/out as much fear, eh?
I think we’d follow them anywhere. Even w/our eyes closed.

I think we should explore further the seething Crimean. :-)

MT, my personal opinion, which is that we largely need to mind our own business, seems extremely unpopular at the moment. A large chunk of the US population (people that don’t like Obama, people that think gay rights are the ONLY thing that matters(the NYTs, for example), the internationalists that run our foreign policy) doesn’t seem like they will be happy until we have a large-scale nuclear war with the only power than has more bombs than we do. Frankly, we’re blessed at the moment to have a feckless incompetent dilettante as President. A more competent President would probably have already started WWIII.

Ice, I could not agree more! US ‘leaders’ are being hypocritical, as if we have never invaded and occupied a sovereign nation :-\!

IMHO, as we ease out of Afghanistan, our defense contractors are looking for new green fields on which to graze. It’s bad enough that the ‘security pact’ we want Karzai to sign involves ten permanent military bases in Afghanistan and complete immunity for our personnel. I don’t like Karzai but I wouldn’t sign that, either.

And, yes, an incompetent dilettante is less scary than, say, John ['never saw a war he didn't like'] McCain.

    It ain’t over, yet!

Personally, a President with the balls to say he’ll keep us out of other countries’ business is way more appreciated than ~feckless~.

True, Karen, but when is the last time we had such a leader?

  8. karen said,

    That’s rhetorical- right:0)?

You know how i feel about W- but, i don’t know enough about Presidents or him to be able to make that kind of decision. I DO know that we do NOT have such a man in office, now.

Although I don’t remember Eisenhower, he apparently warned of the ‘military-industrial complex’. And, God bless him, he knew war and wanted to avoid it. Presidents in general seem to think war is necessary to make them matter in history. :-(
